FAQ

Customer Questions

For the best effective treatment it is essential to declutter and clean every room of the home first, thoroughly cleaning the rooms you notice are affected by the pest. I have attached a list of instructions and other handy tips the Critterkill team recommend our customers follow when treating against a bed bug infestation. I truly hope this helps and if you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our team. If you are noticing the pest, it is highly likely there are bed bugs in every room of the home. We advise that you use x1 16g smoke per room, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living spaces and other open areas such as large landings or hallways. Once you have set the smoke bombs off, we recommend leaving the home for at least 4 hours. Upon return, open doors and windows to air out the property. I have attached some information and a list of instructions we advise customers to follow to remove the infestation. I hope this helps and if you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact our team. Step 1. Declutter areas, remove unnecessary items from the rooms and dispose of any unwanted items or waste. Step 2. Vacuum and clean the home thoroughly. Vacuuming helps start the hatching process of bed bug eggs and removes large quantities of the pest. Ensure the vacuum contents are emptied into a waste bin outside to avoid them escaping and re-entering the home. Step 3. Start Critterkill treatment. Recommended: x1 16g smoke bomb or fogger per room, or x2 if rooms are considerably large. Treat every room of the home as bed bugs travel and do not stick to one area. Step 4. Spray the home, carpets, soft furnishings, bedding etc. with Critterkill pest spray killer. Avoid soft silks or highly absorbent materials that may develop water damage. Step 5. Do not clean or vacuum the home for at least 7–10 days to allow the products to work and eliminate bed bugs. Step 6. Vacuum and clean the home again after the 10 day period. This tackles unhatched eggs and larvae and ensures they cannot reproduce. Empty contents into a bin outside. Step 7. Treat a second time using x1 or x2 smoke bombs/foggers in every room of the home. This ensures any newly hatched eggs are eradicated before they can reproduce. Step 8. Spray the home again with the Critterkill pest spray. Step 9. Monitor for signs of infestation using Critterkill sticky traps. As bed bugs are excellent hitchhikers, we advise customers not to visit friends or family members to avoid spreading the pest. Ensure visitors are aware of your infestation before entering your home. Please remember to unplug or cover smoke alarms and place smoke bombs on a heatproof surface before setting them off. A bed bug infestation can feel like a losing battle as they are fast and hide in unusual places, including drain pipes and electrical plug sockets. Taking extra steps such as cleaning and removing items can help reduce costs. Bleach is useful for bathrooms and hardy surfaces as the chemicals can kill bed bugs and slow them down. Pouring bleach into sinks and covering the plug may help prevent them escaping. Bed bugs can hide in pipes and crawl through openings such as walls, floors and ceilings. They are most often found where humans are inactive, such as mattresses and box springs. Other hiding places include: Bed frames: Cracks and crevices of the bed frame and headboard. Upholstery: Seams and cushions of chairs, sofas and sofa beds. Furniture: Drawer joints, cracks in shelving and cupboards, and behind wall hangings. Electrical outlets: Plug sockets and light switches. Wallpaper: Behind loose or peeling wallpaper. Bed bugs spread through close contact with people, clothing, linens and furniture. They can also spread via infested luggage, bags and sleeping bags. Signs of bed bugs include blood stains, spots or streaks on sheets, and rusty or tiny black spots on mattresses and mattress seams. To lure bed bugs out of hiding, use a steamer or hairdryer to heat areas such as mattresses. You can also look for nests at night when they are most active.
